Charity Hexie Flower Quilt

I am making a community hexie flower charity quilt to raffle off for a great cause.

Denton Friends of the Family

This quilt will be raffled off to benefit Denton Friends of the Family. Mission statement (from their site):

“At Denton County Friends of the Family (DCFOF) we are dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive services to those impacted by rape, sexual abuse, and domestic violence, while partnering with our community to promote safety, hope, healing, justice, and prevention.”

This cause is very important to me. Read more about the organization here.

Raffle

I will post more about how the raffle will work when we get closer to the quilt being finished. Since this charity quilt involves EPP, that may be a while. I will post about it on Instagram and send out an email to my newsletter subscribers (sign up here). I assure you that it will be done with full transparency for an amazing cause.

Expectations of Spring Daisy Stitchery

  • I will credit your block(s) to you.
    • I will do a blog post with all the blocks.
    • I will post them to my Instagram stories.
    • I will include a name &/or Instagram handle if provided by you.

Block Requirements

  • A hexie flower made up of 1″ hexies appliqued onto a 6.5″ square of fabric
    • The hexie flower and the background square it is appliqued to does not have to follow a theme, be a specific color, or have any specific fabric requirements.
    • The hexie flower can be appliqued on in any way that you wish – hand appliqued, needle turn applique, machine appliqued, etc. There are no requirements.
  • Please include your name &/or Instagram handle with your block so I can credit you. Let me know if you would prefer this information to not be shared.
  • Send one or more blocks in the mail to me. My mailing address is below:
    • CLOSED TO BLOCK DONATIONS
  • Timeline: I already accepting blocks. I will update here when I close the accepting of blocks because I have started construction of the quilt top.
  • You can send in one block or more, however may you want
  • I am really hoping for 100 blocks total so that the full throw will be hexie flowers, if I am short a few blocks – I will add in some blank squares.

State of Supplies

  • Long arming
    • donated by the lovely and uber talented Jessamyn from @rufflespearlsandbows
  • Batting
    • donated by Kacey of @kaceycrutch
  • Backing
    • I am planning to donate once I have more blocks and an idea of what will look best on the back

Don’t EPP, but want to contribute?

  1. Participate in the raffle. Coming together as a community to raise money for a great cause is the main point.
  2. Learn how to EPP and make a block. *laughing*. In all seriousness though, a single hexie flower is an amazing starter EPP project. Small commitment and a fast finish (on the EPP scale). If you get stuck or need help, feel free to DM me on Instagram and I will help.

Summary

I am so excited about this project. It means a lot to me personally and I think it will benefit an amazing organization that helps people.
