How to Mail a Hexie Swap

Let’s talk about the cheapest way to mail your hexie swaps – especially since USPS just raised prices.

Supplies

  • Hexies ready to mail
  • Envelope (small one works)
  • Letter or cardstock
  • Masking or painters tape
    • you do NOT want to use scotch or packing tape, it will stick and not want to come off
  • 2 stamps (per swap mailer)

How to

  1. Baste your hexies
  2. Collect all your supplies
  3. Lay your hexies out in rows according to the guidelines below
    1. You want overlap, but not too much or the tape wont stick to them
    2. You only need a little bit of the letter (or cardstock) to not be covered on both sides (see picture below)
  4. Cut a piece of tape at least two inches longer than whatever you taped your hexies to on both sides
  5. Tape the hexies down – wrap the tape around whatever you taped the hexies too on both sides.
  6. Make sure the envelope is really closed (might be the time to bring out that packing tape)
  7. Put TWO stamps on it. You need to use more than one stamp.

I hope this helps you mail and swap hexies to get the cutest hexie quilt ever!
